Corporate Social Responsibility
Gemserv supports two chosen charities, City Gateway and Mencap, as well as a number of other charities through fundraising and volunteering initiatives. In 2011/12 Gemserv's staff raised over £23,000 for charitable causes and dedicated many working days to volunteering endeavours.
Fundraising
We support our charities through corporate and individual fundraising activities. Some notable fundraising achievements over the past year include:
- RPI-X Factor – The energy industry's only annual Battle of the Bands. Hosted at Cargo in Shoreditch, this hugely enjoyable event raised over £9,000 in 2011 for City Gateway and Tourettes Action.
- Movember – Gemserv's men abandoned razors in November 2011 to raise funds in aid of Movember and the Prostate Cancer Charity. The team raised more than £2,800 for charity.
- Asics British 10k London Run – Gemserv supported six runners as they completed the London Run to raise money for our charities.
Gemserv matches any funds raised for charity by individual staff members or teams. This doubles the results of their efforts and helps us maximise the impact of donations.

Volunteering
Many employees volunteer for local activities to support the community. We are happy to support any volunteer in their efforts. Some of the volunteering activities carried out by Gemserv employees in the past year include:
- City Gateway Employability Day – Gemserv invited some of the young people from City Gateway into the office to spend a day learning interview skills, picking up sales techniques and helping them take valuable steps in their personal development.
- Whitechapel Mission Breakfast Challenge – Several Gemserv staff went to the Whitechapel Mission to cook breakfast and provide clothing to the homeless in the local area.
- Other volunteering events – Supporting jumble sales, mentoring work for young people and support work at local youth centres.
