THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, the role will be responsible for seeking new business development opportunities within our existing client base as well exploiting opportunities for new business and growth across utilities and energy markets. The post holder will have experience in sales and working knowledge of the utilities and energy markets. This is a senior level role responsible for contributing to the growth of the organisation.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Seek and exploit new business opportunities to achieve sales targets
  • Undertake networking with clients, attend industry events, build strategic relationships to enhance Gemserv’s brand capital and opportunities for new business
  • Lead the development of business propositions to new and existing clients
  • Lead the design and implementation of business development strategy for business streams


REQUIREMENTS

In addition, experience in the following would be desirable:

  • Experience of applying sales and marketing techniques, and working knowledge of the utilities and energy industries
  • Client management, including ability to influence and negotiate, developing partnership relationships
  • Experience of developing sales strategy and planning and managing sales activity
  • Sound financial management including understanding of budgeting, financial modelling, reporting and management accounting techniques

Gemserv’s business is making markets work effectively and with integrity.  We are a leading specialist UK consultancy providing impartial advice, technical skills, assurance, and programme management services predominantly within the regulated industries (electricity, gas, environment, water, and telecoms sectors).

Gemserv is currently looking to recruit an experienced Business Analyst to join our contract delivery team principally to deliver secretariat and assurance services required under the Master Registration Agreement (MRA). This agreement sets out the inter-operational arrangements that support customer transfer processes within the GB retail electricity market.

The Business Analyst is responsible for providing specialist knowledge relevant to the secretariat and assurance services provided by the MRA Delivery Team and other delivery teams as appropriate, including developing strong relationships and networks with customers/clients/industry. Further, the Business Analyst has an active role in helping the company deliver strategic goals by improving existing, and developing new procedures.


RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Business Analyst you will be involved in a wide variety of functions, including change management, issue resolution, product management and meeting management. Tasks may include:

  • Policy analysis
  • Presentation to and participation in  industry meetings
  • Raising and implementing changes to  products
  • Business and Market  analysis, including as appropriate process modelling and re-modelling
  • Liaison with industry stakeholders, including regulatory and governance bodies
  • Assurance of new participants entering markets
  • Identifying solutions to industry issues
  • Providing expert advice to relevant Parties and other interested participants


REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Experience of working in the retail or regulatory areas of the utilities sector
  • Good understanding of the MRA and its application in the retail market
  • An awareness of other codes and agreements in the GB utilities sector
  • Strong analytical and/or assurance experience
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality
  • Exceptional client focus
  • Good team interaction and interpersonal skills
