Gemserv Wins Smart Gas Meters Contract

Gemserv is pleased to announce that it has been appointed to provide expert analysis by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to further assess the options and practical implications of whether the minimum requirement for all gas meters should include a valve to allow remote enablement / disablement. This builds on previous smart metering and gas retail assessments undertaken for regulated markets.

This work is a key aspect of the gas smart meter specification that will inform the work of the smart meter implementation programme.

Gemserv is due to report back to DECC during April 2010 and will be consulting with a range of stakeholders over the coming weeks.

Chief Executive Nigel Bromley commented that Gemserv is pleased to be working with DECC on this element of smart metering to deliver an independent, objective and evidence-based assessment of the issues around a valve in gas smart meters.
