Gemserv Appoints new Non-Executive Director as the Company Continues its Growth and Diversification Drive

Sue Sharlnd | Gemserv | New Non-Executive Director AppoinmentGemserv has appointed Dr Sue Sharland as Non-Executive Director to its Board after a competitive process.  Sue will take up the post in November, replacing Simon Wills, who rotates off the board after six years. 

The company was recently appointed as the Retail Energy Code Professional Services provider, further establishing its key position in the governance of the retail energy market

While market governance remains core to the business, Gemserv has diversified in recent years offering a wide range of professional services across energy, low carbon, health and the public sector, and this will continue to be a focus for the Board.

Meriel Lenfestey, Chair of Gemserv, said:

“Sue brings a wealth of senior corporate governance experience having served across public, private and not-for-profit organisations. She will play a key role in steering Gemserv to fulfil its purpose of making things that matter work better for everyone.”

Dr Sue Sharland said:

Her other roles include:

  • LUC Ltd (Land Use Consultants), Non-Executive Chair– A privately-owned specialist environmental and planning consultancy.
  • Road Safety Foundation, Trustee – A UK charity advocating road casualty reduction.
  • iRAP and RASL Ltd, Trustee and Non-Executive Chair, respectively – A charity concerned with road casualty reduction internationally, and a subsidiary company.
  • Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, Hon Treasurer – A learned society concerned with planning, design, construction, maintenance and of land-based transport systems and infrastructure

Sue’s previous experience includes:

  • Connected Places Catapult, Senior Independent NED – a technology and innovation centre where businesses, scientists and engineers can work together, transforming ideas into new products and services to generate economic growth.
  • HR Wallingford Group Ltd, Non-Executive Chair – a private company providing world-leading analysis, advice and support in engineering and environmental hydraulics, and in the management of water and the water environment.
