As one of the largest events of the calendar year for the Information Security sector, InfoSec Europe 2017 placed a huge focus on the imminent regulations which are changing the way organisations and users are viewing data.
Indeed, the number of high profile organisations offering a number of practical solutions for products ranging from email security to threat detection was impressive.
Yet, whilst all the pieces were available for GDPR compliance in one form or another, there was a surprising lack of guidance on how to put them all together. An issue which, not surprisingly, creates a significant barrier to compliance.
This was echoed by those that visited our stand and a number of the people that we spoke to, wanted to get a better understanding of how to become compliant and, more importantly, how to undertake implementation of an approved GDPR plan.
Our talk entitled, ‘EU GDPR practical implementation guide – opportunities and threats’, served to tackle these questions and gave audiences a taste of how existing standards such as ISO 27001 and PCI DSS already put businesses on the road to compliance. It also touched on the necessary steps to take in order to successfully implement a GDPR plan.
We were thrilled with the turnout for our presentation and with a full-house in both the auditorium and the overflow area, the demand from the industry is clearly there for GDPR consultancy solutions.
The feedback from the show was encouraging and we wanted to share our presentation slides with you in the hopes of helping you to understand where you can benefit from existing security standards, how to successfully implement a time-bound GDPR plan and what common threats you need to look out for.
