ISO/IEC 27001:2013 – Act early to maximise transition benefits

The ISO/IEC 27001 standard, originally known as BS7799, was initially developed in the 1990s by the former Department for Trade & Industry in conjunction with major companies including HSBC, Shell and Unilever. It aimed to provide an internationally recognised code of best practice to benchmark information
security management.

The basic objective of ISO/IEC 27001 is to help establish and maintain an effective Information Security Management System (ISMS), with the framework of the standard designed to fit organisations of all sizes.
