REC – A vision for the future.

The Retail Energy Code (REC) is a new dual fuel code being created by Ofgem with the aim of governing the Central Switching Service (CSS) and wider switching and registration arrangements. We also expect the REC to govern the transitional arrangements necessary to facilitate the successful delivery of Ofgem’s switching programme. The REC is intended to replace existing retail codes, including the Master Registration Agreement (MRA), Green Deal Arrangements Agreement (GDAA) and Supply Point Administration Agreement (SPAA).

Ofgem Consultation Highlights.

On 15th October 2018, Ofgem published the “Switching Programme: Regulation and Governance – way forward and statutory consultation on licence modifications”.  The document sets out the enduring content that will be designated as part of Retail Energy Code (REC) V2 (planned for mid-2021); and the proposals for developing further REC V2 and V3 content.

It is a fairly substantial document but if you wanted to get a high level understanding of the publication, the MRA (administered by Gemserv) has produced a four part series taking a look at some of the key highlights. These can be viewed by selecting from one of the images below.
