About

Spotlight

Gemserv is presenting Spotlight for the first time on 26th February 2020, to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. The event will showcase a variety of talented performers and raise money for a good cause! Please note that this is an 18+ event.

Meet the

Acts

Connie Muir

The lovely Connie will be performing ‘Popular’ from the fantastic and fun musical Wicked!

Connie enjoys singing and has always been a member of a choir. Impressively, she made her singing debut as the narrator in ‘Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat’ during sixth form.  With such a fun song to sing, Connie promises to attempt to make us all laugh (sounds good to us)!

Hannah Brissenden

The talented writer and stand-up comedian, Hannah Brissenden, will delighting us with her comedy stylings.

Hannah has been doing stand-up comedy for a year and is a resident Host at The South Kensington Comedy Club and member of the Australian Comedians Dope Comedy Group.

She performs at several Comedy Clubs in London and across the UK, including Edinburgh Fringe Festival. From the mundane to the meta, Hannah’s act is dead pan and observational humour that comments on the comedy and craziness of life in London. She promises to be a ‘Bad Influence’ on us all.

Abi Farrell

Promising to be good for the ‘soul’, the songwriter and singer Abi Farrell will be performing an original number.

As well as her passion for music she balances her projects with a full-time role at the Alzheimer’s Society. She has been performing since the age of 14 when she joined a school soul band, and since moving to London three years ago, she has performed with her band at venues such as London’s Camden Assembly, The Spice of Life, The Bedford in Balham and a recent headline show at Notting Hill Arts Club.

Her songwriting is inspired by her love for soul music and she has recently released her debut EP ‘The Only Way I Learn’. We are sure to be in for a treat.

JAB

JAB is a talented group of 4 musicians who have formed in honour of Spotlight.

The band has performed together in various guises in the past, but recently undertook a new setup, which of course called for a new name.

So who is JAB? Well, they are exactly as the name suggests – Just Another Band who loves music, Just Another Band that wants to entertain.

We are looking forward to hearing some original material from this quirky acoustic collection.

Hannah & Tom

Hannah has been singing since College and enjoys performing at Open Mic nights. Tom studied music at Uni, has been in a couple of jazz bands and plays guitar and drums.

The delightful duo has recently united and we are very excited to be the first to see them in action!
